The costs for prepared herbs depends on a lot of things.  One of them is availability.  For instance, gingseng and goldenseal are threatened species.  The costs of finding and buying them are added to the costs of preparation.  Another cost of reputable companies when they make prepared herbal products is that of making sure that the dose is standardized and safe for the consumer.  Loose herbs don’t have to be as pure as a prepared product.

Then, there are the shysters.  A few companies see a way to make a fast buck and they don’t care whether or not what they sell does what they say it will.  They may not even care if it’s pure.  A few even don’t care if it’s safe.

Why can and do I say this?  I don’t sell herbs, I sell information.  The only way I can succeed is to tell you the absolute truth, no matter how much others may object.  Most major companies make and sell reliable safe products.  They may or may not know of the herb/drug interactions, so it is up to me…and you…to find the info.

First off, I’d like to know if there’s anything in the chains other than sterling silver.  It sounds a great deal like an allergic reaction.  Any allergy is possible, but I haven’t heard many reports of allergy to sterling silver. 

Basing my answer on the allergy, the first thing I can do is congratulate you on stopping wearing the necklaces.  Until you can rule allergy out, I’d act as if that’s the problem.  Olive oil by itself may be enough and usually does not cause additional problems, however given the odd nature of the problem, I’d suggest you test any recommendations on a small area before using it on all the rash.  I do not recommend aloe vera, as it can be a problem.  Lemon balm tea could also help, as it sometimes acts like a natural antihistamine.

Most important to me is that you make sure that an allergy is the problem.  It may require a “scratch test,” but it would be a good idea to know for sure what the problem is.

I am currently taking gemfibrozil niaspan (2000 mg) and I can’t get below 400 on my triglyceride level. It was 1,400. It is genetic, but I could still help myself out by eating better, believe me. Easier said than done, though. I worry about my liver functions holding up over time with the conventional medications. Last summer I was in the best shape of my life and I still had high ldl, low hdl and high triglycerides. Much improved, but still not a pretty picture.

One thing that may help lower both cholesterol and triglycerides is Omega-3 fatty acids.  Both fish and plant sources may be useful.

It is recommended that you avoid alcohol consumption if your triglycerides are high, as it can contribute to high levels.

This happen 6 months ago. My doctor didn’t send me for any treatment until months later. He gave me pain and muscle relaxer because I was having back spasm at night. I had a MRI and spine is OK but I have some muscle damage. I walk like a two year old. A lot of pain in my knees. I’m also overweight which does not help my problem. Any remedies. I started PT and only thing was done was give me 3 exercises to do at home. Help!

Have they totally ruled sciatica out?  If my early days working with my mom in a nursing home still applies, CNAs do a lot of lifting and sometimes it is in difficult positions.  A pinched nerve would not surprise me, but I’m not a doc.

PT should help, but you may want to ask your doctor about doing knee flexion under load.  The only reason I know that is that I’m a hefty lady myself.  After two major accidents I needed PT.  My doctor was adamant that squats and exercises of that nature were not to be part of the therapy.  Believe me, the pain of doing it once or twice was enough to convince me.

As for alternative remedies, there are a few.  However, it is important to make sure you first do no harm.  Capsaicin creams can help deaden nerve endings, shutting down the pain sensation to the brain.  Test it on a small area to prevent burns.  Alternating heat and cold could also be useful.

My personal opinion might not make you a friend of the taxman unless you did keep track and pay appropriate taxes.  “The servent is worthy of his hire.”  You are entitled to payment for your hard work (as a Master, I know).  If all you charge is repayment for what you spend, you may not need to pay something…however I am *not* a tax specialist.  I pay for one, just because I *don’t* want the IRS mad at me.

The two things you should consider the most is taxes (a good CPA can help there) and liability.  Being a good friend or relative is one thing, but if someone thinks you made them worse, they could do something about it.  If you are going to do this for pay, getting insurance is a very good idea.
